The Challenge
The Cricket
We’ll be playing a T10 Round-Robin tournament which will take place
under official ICC rules and conditions, including everything from
an artificial pitch to an official scorer!
This will take place in a crater which fits the minimum boundary
regulations neccesary.
What is Sixes at the Summit?
In February 2027, a group of 45 will be aiming to beat the Guinness World Record for the Highest Altitude Cricket Match, setting a new record at 6,000m, beating the previous record of 5,752m.
This will be taking place on Ojos del Salado, Chile, which is the highest volcano on earth. We’ll be playing a round robin T10 tournament between three sides, seeing as we started as a charity cricket tournament!
We’re aiming to raise £200,000 for Rays of Sunshine & the A Day for Thorpey Fund.
The Expedition
We’ll arrive into Santiago where we’ll play a cricket match in the afternoon, followed by a welcome dinner, before heading to Copiapo the following morning to start the expedition.
Due to the level of altitude, we’ll face a stringent acclimatisation period in order to maximise our ability to complete the challenge, with spare days in case of bad weather or any altitude-related issues.
The Location
Tallest Volcano on Earth.
Second-highest peak in the Southern Hemisphere at 6,893 metres.
Hosted numerous World Records such as Highest Altitude
Marathon and the Longest Descent by bike.
